Intentional Wedding Day Experience Blog

As we all know, time flies by, making it easy to forget to be present in the moment. As a wedding and portrait photographer, my role extends beyond capturing images; I strive to keep you engaged in the moment so that when you revisit your photos, you can vividly recall how you felt.

I want couples to be able to reflect on their special day and cherish a sweet memory from every moment, rather than just recalling a vague blur.

My approach to weddings and the entire process is rooted in intentionality, ensuring that what truly matters remains at the forefront. It’s about beginning your life with your partner surrounded by family and loved ones, before God. I want to help my brides and grooms stay present while I capture those cherished memories for them. We have to be purposeful with our time before it slips away.

“What does this look like on the wedding day? How can you remain present?”

First and foremost, remember that your day is about your marriage! Your wedding day is not a photoshoot. It’s not about the decorations, the dress, the weather, or anything else, but the commitment you are making to one another. All those beautiful details serve to add magic to your purpose!

To help my brides stay in the moment while they’re getting ready, I’ll ask them to share their favorite part about their dress. I may ask them to touch the beading on their gown, or breathe in the scent of their flowers. Savor that moment! This is your one day to wear that dress, and I want you to remember every single detail!

Your family on your wedding day, along with those you’ve chosen to stand beside you, are the most important people in your lives. When your mother helps fasten your dress, I want you both to appreciate the significance of that moment. That’s her daughter she felt kicking inside her belly, the little girl she watched grow into a strong, loving, and beautiful woman. The same applies to the mother of the groom, who has watched her son take his first steps and is now embarking on the next significant step of starting a family of his own. I may also ask your bridesmaids to share a memory or funny story of you that they have that makes them smile. We’re here to make memories, not just take pictures!

Another way I encourage intentional moments is for my families to offer words of encourage to their son or daughter & pray over them. It’s making small, but impactful decisions that creates a beautiful experience for everyone to enjoy.

These heartfelt moments become a tapestry of memories, woven together with love and support, which are captured in the photographs to be cherished for years to come.
